Notes: Cinco Sentidos Pizorra

Cinco Sentidos Pizorra (2018) - 50.4%

From Mezcal Reviews: Cinco Sentidos Pizorra is crafted by maestro mezcalero Delfino Tobón Mejia with wild maguey Pizorra (A. Marmorata) that dots the clay mountains that surround the town of San Pablo Ameyaltepec. Maestro Delfino uses a single-pass, three-plate “reflux” style still that he crafted himself from copper and stainless steel.

The release I'm taking notes on is the 2018 Flask/T5C release.

Notes: Nose starts herbious and smokey, but there's some fruit and lactic notes building below. The palate delivers a sweet and spicy combo - strawberry, sour apple candy, cinnamon, ginger, wet stone, drying ash. Medium bodied and balanced with a powerful structure that drives the notes. Long in the finish - touch of cherry and campfire.

Recommend this to: Fans of sherried Ledaig would find lots to love here.

Score: 7 (Highly Recommend) Note lacking complexity and impressively manages to hold it all together with composure.
