Review: High Coast Hav

High Coast Hav - 48%
A Swedish single malt from High Coast distillery. Hav utilizes ex-bourbon as well as smaller Swedish and Hungarian oak in the aging process. Distillate ranges from 5-7 years old. The mashbill runs about a 3:1 ratio of unpeated to peated malt. Tons of great info and transparency on the website.
Notes: Light grain, candied orange, soft peat, and baking spice. A subtle but balanced nose. Thin and short on the palate. Citrus and ash.
Score: 5 (Not vocally complaining) It's a clean, lightly peated malt. Needs a little more there there. From proof to profile it's inoffensive but ultimately uninteresting. Distillate seems promising enough. Likely needs age and depth to reach its potential.
