Review: Cascahuin Tahona Reposado

Cascahuin Tahona Reposado - Barrel #2 - 45%

From Top Shelf Tequila: The Cascahuin Single Barrel Tahona Reposado collection is the result of a project where the same base spirit was aged in 4 different barrels to specifically showcase the impact of the barrel on the final product. The project extends the level of transparency with QR codes on each bottle giving access to full production details, aging and laboratory analysis. #2 rested in re-charred barrels that have been with the distillery for 15 years.

Generally, I'm a big fan of Cascahuin, reposados, and elevated proof tequilas. Sounds like this is in my wheelhouse.

Notes: Super rich nose - buttery, caramel-driven, fresh peppers. Clarity and definition of the notes is exceptional. Soft and well-layered on the palate - salted caramel, poblano peppers, nutmeg, very light wood. Finishes with waves of butter and lighter floral notes.

Score: 9 (Stash Two) Complex, layered w/ finesse. Rich and long on the palate. One of the best reposados I've had, and I hear this isn't even the best of the four.
