Notes: Lot 73 Jean Luc Pasquet

Jean-Luc Pasquet Lot 73 - Serious Brandy - Eau d'Anges - 2022 - 50.8%

I'm just putting together that these Serious Brandy charity bottlings were distilled by the same Claude (Duluc) - Grande Champagne from Touzac - that did L. 64 of which I was a big fan.

Proceeds from sales of this bottling were offered in support of a four-room schoolhouse in Bellevigne, France that educates children from three to ten years-old. Any given year, there are about 80-90 students in attendance. They come from highly diverse socio-cultural backgrounds but there are very few jobs here and social mobility is difficult. Funds were short for their annual end of the year trip. This botting was meant to help ensure students continued to have access to this unique growth opportunity.

Notes: Great interplay between fresh and aged on the nose. Aged notes bring vanilla, leather, oak, waffle cone. Fresh - apricot, blueberry, herbs. Fully and creamy up front on the palate - candied and fruity. Structure is very concentrated up front and more defined mid to back with herbaceous and savory aged notes - dried echinacea cones. Addition of lemon grass continues the fresh/aged interplay. Finish brings back the apricot in jam form with some berry notes accenting. Love that it works back to the fruit.

Pour This For: Fans of lower funk, 12+ year, tropically aged, Jamaican rums (Long Pond, Appleton).

Score: 8 (Stash One) Very complex, specific, and ever-unfolding. Fantastic weight and creaminess from the structure. Excellent interplay between fresh and aged profiles.
