Notes: Clairin Le Rocher - Velier

Clairin Le Rocher - Velier- 48.2%

From Specialty Brands: Romulus Bethel’s distillery is located in Pignon, in the northern arrondissement of Saint-Raphael, no more than an hour of dirt road from St. Michel, the village where Sajous' distillery is.

Le Rocher is produced from syrup, not from pure juice. The syrup is slowly boiled in order to preserve all the aromas of the rum, while retaining the character of the cane. Le Rocher is an artisanal single pot still rum, bottled 'still proof' without any dilution.

Notes: Savory driven notes on the nose. Sun dried tomatoes, olives, italian sausage, overripe mango, yogurt. The palate is brighter and more fruit driven. Citrus. Honey. Banana. Gentian. Fresh herbs. Spearmint. BBQ. Very full up front and gets very lean and high-toned toward the back. Medium length.

Pour This For: Mezcal lovers will be into this.

Score: 7 (Highly Recommend) Engaging with great layers. The upfront body and complexity makes this ideal for cocktailing where you build in weight and fruit without adding additional sugar. I can sip this right on par with plenty of more expensive agave distillates.
