Review: Kapriol (1950s)

Kapriol (1950s) - ?%

From Only Italian Products: Digestive bitter Kapriol. Typical product of the Dolomites.

The liquor "KAPRIOL" is a product obtained from the slow and controlled distillation of juniper like "Juniperus communis" berries, then infused with other alpine herbs in order to compose a harmonious liqueur with a fragrant and characteristic aroma and a fresh taste and marked; the "KAPRIOL" liqueur is an extremely versatile product on the occasions of consumption, because you can drink straight, fresh, with ice, but also hot as punch.

Notes: TThe juniper isn't shy on the nose. Bold, but fairly one dimensional with cardamom hanging out around the edges. Viscous and syrupy on the palate - cardamom and some softer evergreen notes with the punchier juniper berry. The finish is short with slight herbal bitterness.

Score: 5 (Acceptable) Not enough here for a sipper, but the viscosity and bold winter profile make this an excellent modifier.
