Review: 1993 L'Encantada Mamoulens - Armagnac Tenareze

1993 L'Encantada Mamoulens - Armagnac Tenareze - 50.2%

Cask #12. Bottlings of this vintage from Domaine de Mamoulens have shown up at Fine Drams, Off-Premise, and Spec's. I believe there were two different casks, but I'm unsure of the distribution. Nice to see more Tenareze popping up. I'd be curious to know if the designation of "elevage" is in reference to aging in both dry and humid cellars.

Notes: Plenty going on with this nose - Dr. Pepper, something funky in the wood, roasted nuts, rich-candy bar caramel. Brighter and spicier on the palate - citrus, baking spice, something almost agave-esque and vegetal in the background. Finish swells with the proof. Doesn't lose its grip, but definitely pushes spicy and tannic top-notes while delivering some heat.

Score: 7 (Highly Recommend) Plenty of complexity and character here. Could use polish in places, but I'm definitely interested in exploring more from this Domaine. Looks like On Premise still has some in stock.
