Ramazzotti (1960s) - 30%
While many vintage and small production amari relied on regional/local ingredients for their recipes. Ramazzotti, since its creation in 1815, set out to craft a drink that required a global reach to source the 33 spices, herbs, flowers, and fruits. After establishing itself at home in Milan, the Ramazzotti family expanded their offerings and began distributing outside of Italy, during the 1960s. This bottling comes from that initial period of brand expansion.
Notes: Super crisp on the nose. Orange. Cola. Cardamon. Gentian. Light and zippy on the plate. Deep, quick cola up front. Mid-palate is crisp and refreshing. Showing solid range. Finish is on the shorter side, but cleans everything up with a medicinal bow - orange cough medicine (which I don’t like, but I do like this note and its placement).
Score: 8 (Stash One) I have a lot of trouble with the contemporary version. It plays too syrupy and artificial for me. This by contrast is very clean and dynamic. I may have stashed more than one.
